Positive Behaviour Support
We understand that every behaviour serves a purpose. If you or a loved one has behaviour difficulties we can provide support to act in more appropriate ways.
Did you know every day there are 2,800 unauthorised restrictive practices performed on people living with a disability in Australia?
At National Care Services, we understand that sometimes people with disabilities respond to an environment or situation with challenging behaviours. Caring for someone who displays these behaviours can be difficult and distressing if there are no effective strategies to address and manage them.

At National Care Services, we understand that sometimes people with disabilities respond to an environment or situation with challenging behaviours. Caring for someone who displays these behaviours can be difficult and distressing if there are no effective strategies to address and manage them.
Our NDIS Positive Behaviour Support service aims to reduce challenging behaviours by:
- understanding what the person is communicating through their behaviours,
- increasing the person’s quality of life,
- making changes in the environment,
- teaching the person new skills, and
- helping families and support people with effective strategies to respond to the behaviours.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred therapy approach that involves working closely with the person with a disability and their supports, to understand what triggers their challenging behaviours, so that the best strategies can be provided to reduce and/or eliminate those behaviours and any associated restrictive practices.
Specialist Behaviour Intervention Support National Care Services’ behaviour support practitioners can provide individual and highly specialised intensive support interventions to NDIS participants. These address significantly harmful or persistent behaviours of concern identified in some NDIS participants. Training in Behaviour Management The extension of the behaviour support plans is training. Our behaviour support therapists run sessions for key stakeholders on the behaviour management strategies developed in the Positive Behaviour Support Plan. This training will be specific to the participant’s needs and the stakeholders interaction with them. |
